From research to critical workshops, publications to exhibition design, in the first four years of our existence, we’ve undertaken a wide range of projects that are always born out of conversations, ideas, invitations and opportunities. We often describe ourselves as ‘making the road as we walk it’, which is another way of saying that we keep ourselves as open to possibilities as we can: a ten-minute conversation at a conference in Milan or an hour-long Zoom meeting often leads to initiatives that a month earlier would have seemed unlikely or impossible. As a small, highly-networked and diverse group of individuals, we try to remain as fluid and open to new ideas as possible, whilst ensuring we have the logistical and administrative capacity to turn dreams into reality. No easy or small task, but as Daniel Burnham famously said, ‘Make no little plans. Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir the blood and probably will not themselves be realised. Make big plans, aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever growing insistency.’
