Nana Akua Birmeh

Nana Akua Birmeh founded Ghana’s first women-led architecture firm, ArchXenus, in 2011. In its first six years, ArchXenus had designed 53 projects with a total budget of about $140 million. In 2018, Akua Birmeh won the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum Award in the Creative Industry category. She is a firm advocate for empowering women in architecture and, in general, making the workplace conducive for women, especially those with children. 

 

A key architects in Ghana, she serves as a Council Member of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA), and is a Member of the Architects Registration Council (ARC). Outside the office, she is committed to public speaking engagements where she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field of architecture in various schools and event platforms.
